De Vrijgieterij, a playground for the everyday was founded to seek liberation from the common set of rules and preconceptions embedded in the framework of the design practice. De Vrij Gieterij, translated as Free Foundry, is a space for experimenting and free expression. The action of making itself is the only essential ingredient. Applied in a childlike manner, it sets out to recall the very roots of creating and enhance its joys and potential.

The process is fast and intuitive with a big margin for accidents and chance. Moulds are shaped manually and poured with a material of choice to become an object. There are no restrictions considering the methods or materials in use. One can figure out his own way of doing, whether fast or slow, careful or careless. Design is stripped down to its most primi- tive form what allows the manual input to become a part of the final object. The personal signature is present rather literally than conceptually to emphasise the making, not the maker. The aim is to recollect the pleasure of doing and cut through the conventional etiquettes and norms. Set your thoughts free by turning them into immediate action. Go dig, and we mean literally dig, for your findings.
